Shrimp Alfredo is the epitome of indulgence—a dish that combines succulent, garlic-infused shrimp, rich and velvety Alfredo sauce, and al dente pasta into a restaurant-quality meal you can recreate at home. With fresh ingredients and simple yet refined techniques, this recipe will bring a touch of elegance to your dinner table, making it perfect for special occasions or a cozy weeknight treat.

Ingredients  :

For the Shrimp

– 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined

– 2 tbsp olive oil

– 3 cloves garlic, minced

– ½ tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for a slight kick)

– Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Alfredo Sauce

– 2 tbsp unsalted butter

– 2 cloves garlic, minced

– 1 cup heavy cream

– 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan cheese

– ½ tsp nutmeg (optional, for depth)

– Salt and pepper, to taste

For the Pasta

– 12 oz fettuccine (or your favorite pasta)

– 1 tsp salt (for pasta water)

Garnish

– 2 tbsp chopped fresh parsley

– 1 tsp lemon zest (optional, for brightness)

Instructions :

Step 1: Prepare the Pasta  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the pasta and cook until al dente, according to package instructions. Reserve 1 cup of pasta water before draining. Set aside.

Step 2: Cook the Shrimp

1. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

2. Add shrimp and season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes (if using). Cook for 2–3 minutes per side until pink and opaque. Remove shrimp and set aside.

Step 3: Make the Alfredo Sauce

1. In the same skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant (about 1 minute).

2. Stir in heavy cream, whisking constantly to combine. Bring to a gentle simmer.

3. Gradually add Parmesan cheese, whisking until the cheese melts and the sauce thickens (about 3–4 minutes).

4. Season with nutmeg, salt, and pepper to taste.

Step 4: Combine and Serve

1. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the Alfredo sauce, tossing to coat evenly. Use reserved pasta water, a little at a time, to adjust the sauce’s consistency.

2. Gently fold in the cooked shrimp.

3. Serve immediately, garnished with parsley and lemon zest.

FAQs :

1. Can I use pre-cooked shrimp?

Yes, but add it to the sauce just before serving to prevent overcooking.

2. What pasta works best for Alfredo?

Fettuccine is traditional, but linguine, spaghetti, or even penne work well too.

3. Can I make this dairy-free?

Swap heavy cream with coconut cream and Parmesan with nutritional yeast for a creamy, dairy-free version.

4. How do I store leftovers?

Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat gently with a splash of milk or cream.
