Ingredients

Main Ingredients:

  • 1 lb (450g) fresh asparagus, trimmed
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Gruyère or mozzarella cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tbsp unsalted butter
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning

Topping:

  • 1/2 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 2 tbsp melted butter
  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan cheese

Instructions

1. Preheat & Prepare the Asparagus

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Wash and trim the asparagus, cutting off the tough ends. Arrange them in a lightly greased baking dish in a single layer.

2. Make the Creamy Sauce

In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt 1 tbsp butter. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Stir in heavy cream, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Let it simmer for 2-3 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and mix in 1/2 cup Parmesan cheese.

Pour the sauce in a bowl.

3. Pour & Sprinkle the Cheese

Evenly pour the creamy sauce over the asparagus. Sprinkle shredded Gruyère (or mozzarella) cheese on top. Add breadcrumbs ( optional ).

4. Bake Until Golden

Bake uncovered for 20-25 minutes until the asparagus is tender and the topping turns golden brown. If needed, broil for an extra 1-2 minutes for an even crispier finish.

5. Serve & Enjoy!

Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving. Garnish with fresh herbs (like parsley) if desired, and enjoy your cheesy, creamy asparagus gratin!
