Fast food chains are leaning hard on app deals this summer as restaurant traffic stays competitive nationwide. Burger King has now joined that push with a new free Whopper promotion running this week for Royal Perks members across the U.S.

Burger King announced on June 30 that it is giving Royal Perks members a way to get one free Whopper each day from June 30 through July 4. The company said the offer is available only in the BK app and only for loyalty members, tying the promotion to its Million Dollar Whopper campaign.

The daily schedule is specific. On Monday, June 30, members can get a free Whopper with a purchase of $1 or more. On Tuesday, July 1, the deal shifts to a free Whopper with any purchase. On Wednesday, July 2, Burger King said members can unlock the sandwich by making a mobile order through the app.

The giveaway continues on Thursday, July 3, when members can again get a free Whopper with a qualifying app order, according to the company. On Friday, July 4, Burger King said the final day of the offer will also be app-based, with availability limited to participating U.S. restaurants while supplies last.

What that means around the U.S.

This is a nationwide promotion, not one tied to a single city or state. Burger King said the free Whopper deal is available at participating U.S. locations, which means customers in places like California, Texas, Florida, Illinois, and New York should expect the same basic offer structure if their local restaurant accepts the promotion.

What is not fully public is a complete store-by-store list. The company has not released a full list of participating restaurants in every state, and Burger King locations operated by franchisees can sometimes vary on limited-time offers, especially with app redemption and mobile ordering requirements.

For customers, the biggest local difference may be how each restaurant handles digital orders, pickup windows, and menu availability. Burger King has also not announced any separate in-store or drive-thru version of the deal outside the Royal Perks app, so the confirmed path to a free Whopper this week is through the app-based offer.

Burger King tied the giveaway to its Million Dollar Whopper campaign, which invited fans to submit burger ideas for a chance at a $1 million prize. The company has used Royal Perks repeatedly in 2024 and 2025 to drive app traffic, and this latest offer follows a broader fast food pattern of using digital loyalty discounts to boost visits.

That strategy has shown up across the industry. McDonald’s, Wendy’s, and other national chains have pushed app-only food deals in 2025 as inflation has kept pressure on household spending and restaurant brands compete for repeat visits, according to company promotions released this year.

For customers, the practical takeaway is simple. The free Whopper offer is time-limited, runs through July 4, and requires Royal Perks access in the BK app at participating U.S. restaurants. Burger King said the promotion is part of a broader summer push around Whopper marketing, with redemption terms and daily mechanics set inside the app.
